16 Feb Incoming- Great Egrets!

Right on schedule, the first Great egrets have begun to arrive in The Rookery! Two males were observed selecting nest sites yesterday amongst a flock of roosting Roseate spoonbills in the main Live oak. Their egrettes floated around them as they performed a few practice dances while awaiting the arrival of their mates. Another pair arrived this morning and have already begun vigorously nest building.
